Inspirational Poems – Our Star Afar by Patrick Curry
A Wishing Star lives in the Southern Sky
Seldom regarded and even less consulted
It awaits an upward glance from a mindful eye.
Eclipsed by constellations our star is easily missed.
It differs from others as it has no belt, no extended powerful tail,
No proximity to the North Star, it waits patiently to serve.
Often times when the moon is slight, night is full
We catch its glimmer in the corner of the sky.
Drawn to its curious, small, but steady light, we pause.
Uncertain of our momentary respite from craving
Arrested by a sudden urge to simply gaze upward
We breath deeply and begin to wonder, what if…..
“Yes, yes, please, what is it?” she nods and smiles.
What if we were to live in unbridled Joy…
What if we could offer love easily without mean…
What if we could see all others as God, believe it to be true…
What if Faith grew inside us providing great strength…
What is Kindness grew unbridled in our hearts, easily dispensed…
And, then, we wish all of this for all others.
“As you wish!” beams our star and shines more brightly,
slightly easier for the next mindful eye to see.
