Reverence toward Mother Earth vs. Reverence toward Humankind
The idea of how I show reverence toward Mother Earth and how I show reverence toward humankind has permeated my thoughts the past few days. To me, the meaning of reverence is the state of being stunned by the beauty that enfolds in one’s life!
When was the last time you were so touched by the Universe’s magic that you were brought to stillness and paid homage to Mother Earth’s brilliance? Summer is a season that I find myself in a continual state of reverence. Dr. David Hawkins calibrates the emotion of reverence on his scale of consciousness at a level of 500 which is equal to the state of love.
It seems like I’ve had many opportunities to be profoundly awed in the past several weeks. While mountain biking, I came around a sharp corner and a hillside of wildflowers welcomed me. I stopped my bike (and so did everyone behind me) because I was stunned by Mother Nature’s violet blanket. The color was so vibrant and in such contrast to the green of the shrubs and the blue of the sky that I felt it was worth a moment of reverence.
While soaking in a hot spring, my favorite summer comrade, the butterfly, landed on my baseball hat where it stayed drying its wings so my husband could adore its simplicity. It tickled me at one point and I reached up to gently whisk it away.. The butterfly fluttered for a moment, but then returned to the exact same spot to rest.
I wonder if I am moved to an emotion of reverence by humankind as readily or memorably as I am by nature. It seems like I am easy to forgive Mother Nature’s indiscretions of the harsh winter or the rainy spring. Am I as forgiving of man?
What if we were all stunned by the tenderness of another human to the point that we paid homage and stopped our busy lives to show respect to the kindness of another? What if we honored each other and saw the holiness emitting through daily gestures?
I believe our world would be seen as God intended: exquisite beauty, a perfect creation, and unending love. See the love that exists all around you today and call upon the emotion of reverence. It’s through those moments of honoring others that we find the ability to honor self.

I see the beauty before us now, in my past I had bad influences and relationships taking me down. I now have seen life is what you make it. If your not happy then your outlook isn’t happy either. I love and seek beauty and joy and happiness now in all the day’s of my life. I don’t dwell on sad things I move on and regroup and search for good in all things. Which makes for a happier life. My son’s & daughter all do the same, don’t waste energy on negativity. Change whatever you can whenever possible. Life is grand if you look and seek the right things in life for you.
What a beautiful picture. Thanks for sharing your experience from this summer day I enjoyed reading about it.
